I don’t care that it probably was flooded in both hurricane Katrina and Sandy, and is 22% Bondo by weight, this is strangely tempting.

You don’t want the automatic, really. A find a 1992 or later model instead, with the LT1 engine.

At $5K there is no way I’m going to complain about an automatic.

When you can get a LT1 manual for 5900?

Or a very nice one for 6900$?

If that car is actually in good shape, that is really good price (even for a non LT1 car). More likely is that price representing some common C4 problems issues. At that price, I would suspect issues any or all of the following: worn and/or non operative headlight gears and bushings, crumbling weather stripping, digital dash readout issues, automatic climate controller issues, bose audio issues and almost certainly trashed lower ball joints and rear wheel bearings. If all of the above was in good working condition, that car would probably sell for around 7k in the nicer corners of the corvette world would and have been listed for higher.
